"Maida" smocked celadon green

The "Maida" dress is inspired by "English smocks," a garment worn by English workers at the end of the 18th century. Originally, this rural male dress was handmade by women, and worn over outerwear, like a painter's dress, to protect them from splashes and stains occurring in many trades, from miller to blacksmith.

Just as in the old time, this cotton dress has been smocked by hand. We have thus created a true replica of this popular garment. It closes with a button on the front and on the back of the collar, like the original, in a completely symmetrical way.
And as we like to adapt old clothes to contemporary needs, you will of course find pockets on this piece steeped in history!

It is a loose and rustic garment, to be worn as a dress or tunic over trousers.

Our model Elena is 171 cm tall (5'6) and wears the size S/M.
Her measurements are : bust 84 cm 33" / waist 66 cm 25.9" / hips 90 cm 35.4".

This garment was made in New Delhi by a small high end workshop certified by the BSCI, a label based on the most important international Conventions protecting the worker's rights such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions and other important Declarations of the United Nations, the OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises and the UN Global Compact.
